RESTAURANT REVIEW
Randy Santiago @ Jun 13, 2008 06:05 PM
Checked out a couple of new restaurants in Plainview today. Thought I would give you my EXPERT review:
CHUBBY'S BBQ Of course if you're sensitive about your weight, the name doesn't lend any comfort. This is a BBQ and MEXICAN restaurant that has some seating outside (yeah that's what we want to do in 105 degree weather) but basically it's carryout. The menu is pretty basic: BBQ sandwhiches and plates. A Mexican plate which consists of 2 enchiladas, taco, beans and rice for $5.95, and of course burgers. From the servers licking their fingers, and not wearing gloves to microwaving my mexican plate, this place was needless to say SCARY! I'm non confrontational so I didn't say anything, but the food never made it to our table (Ricky's smiling) and should never make it your's either. YUCK! BEEF BOWL Ohana beef bowl is here. This restaurant is located at the old Taco Bell and is the 2nd try by our friends at Tokyo to branch out. We all remember their first attempt, a major bomb at Italian food (Darren is still mad about that meal). Now the folks at Tokyo are sticking to what they do best, oriental bowls. You get a choice of Teriaki Chicken, Shrimp, Steak (short ribs) and Fried Fish with rice (fried or white) and steamed veggies all for $5.95 ($7.95 for a combo plate). Because my Mexican plate was massaged by multiple hands at my last stop, I picked up two bowls and I've got to say Tokyo could have a winner. The portions are huge (4 pieces of chicken and tons of rice) but what's going to set this place apart from our other oriental establishments is quick carry out. This place has just opened and has done little to no advertising, but if you're looking for a Tokyo alternative this might be the ticket. ENJOY! TILL MY NEXT REVIEW.... Comments
